Prayer to Allow Infants to Express Distress Without Punishment

Prayer

Gracious God,
Help caregivers to respond to distress with patience and compassion. Remind them that every cry is communication, not misbehavior. Give them the strength to comfort and the wisdom to nurture through difficult moments.
Amen.

Scripture Reflection (KJV)

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.” — Psalm 34:18

In moments of distress, presence matters. Caregivers reflect God’s closeness when they respond with comfort and care.

Practice / Task

When your child is distressed, respond with calm reassurance rather than correction or punishment.
Remind yourself: “My response teaches my child that they are safe and supported.”
